About

My Story
Hi, I’m Katya Libizova! UI/UX Designer transitioning from a career in ad sales; I’ve gone from creating media plans to creating brands and intuitive, attractive interfaces to help users solve problems. I’m currently in between Los Angeles,California, and moving back to the New York tristate area, where I grew up. My formal education was in marketing at Rutgers University, but I’ve been working in ad sales ever since I graduated. Despite this business background, I’ve always found myself to be more of a creative. I have been into graphic design and art since high school, mastering some of the Adobe Creative Suite software in my spare time and working on projects both personal and for friends. I’ve designed graphics, logos, album covers, apparel merch, even customized furniture. I knew sales was not for me because it was so far removed from my interests, but I struggled in making a career move to something I was passionate about, until I was turned onto UX/UI design. I found a field that combined both my marketing acumen and my passion for design, allowing me to flex my creative muscle. I also found my business background helps me ideate concepts for new apps with the consumer in mind, and think critically about gaps in the marketplace and functionality of product. Outside of graphic design and art, I’m very into music (particularly classic rock - I’m a huge fan of the 70s/80s and going to live concerts in my city!), interior design, travel, the outdoors, and my Aussie Cattle dog mix, Ozzy.
